Our Services
Emergency and Out of Hours Service
In an emergency, we provide our registered clients with a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week service. Whether you are dealing with a sick animal, an injury, a problem during calving, lambing or kidding, or simply require urgent advice, please do not hesitate to contact the Amethi team.
Herd Health Planning and Consultancy
Whether you need support with herd health planning, farm assurance paperwork, or enrolling in cattle, sheep or goat health schemes, the team at Amethi can guide you through the process.
Our vets are registered BVD, Johne’s, MilkSure and TBAS advisors, with a strong interest in proactive herd health management. We work closely with a range of vaccine companies to ensure you receive the most up-to-date guidance on disease testing, monitoring prevalence and implementing effective control strategies.
We also offer a Red Tractor Approved Medicines Course for our clients. If your certification is due for renewal, please get in touch.
Fertility Visits
From regular fortnightly visits to occasional scanning sessions, our team can tailor fertility work to suit the needs of your herd. We use a new Easi-Scan ultrasound scanner with Bluetooth capability, allowing farmers to clearly see what is happening during examinations.
We believe fertility work should extend beyond pregnancy scanning. Our services also include Bull fertility testing, heifer pelvimetry and planning and management of synchronisation programmes. These services can help improve fertility performance and tighten calving or lambing periods.
TB Testing
While TB testing is rarely anyone’s favourite task, it remains a requirement in this high-risk area. Amethi provides both government-funded and private TB testing, carried out thoroughly and efficiently by our experienced team. Wherever possible, testing is scheduled to fit around your farm routine. For larger tests, we also use a handheld computer to help record and manage data more efficiently.
Smallholder Advice and Guidance
At Amethi, we recognise that farms come in all shapes and sizes, and that livestock keepers have a wide range of experience. Our team believes no question is too small, and we are always happy to take the time to explain and advise. Whether you need guidance on animal husbandry, safe handling for treatments such as injections, or general livestock management, we are here to help.
In-House Faecal Analysis
We offer rapid in-house testing for animals presenting with scour, helping to quickly identify some of the key infectious causes.
We can also examine faecal samples to investigate parasitic infections. This is not limited to the standard faecal egg counts for gut worms and coccidia, but we are also equipped to test for both liver and rumen fluke. This allows us to provide faster diagnosis and more targeted parasite control strategies.
Clinical Interest Groups
Amethi runs several successful clinical interest groups, including a Flock Health Club, Calf Health Club and Cluck Club (run in collaboration with Trerise Farm Shop).
These groups provide opportunities for farmers to develop knowledge, share experiences and access exclusive benefits, all designed to support better livestock health and management. Further information can be found on the relevant pages of our website.
Chicken Friendly Practice
Amethi is an Associated Practice of The Chicken Vet, based in Exmouth. Through this partnership we can provide additional support for smallholder and backyard poultry keepers.
As an associated practice we are able to collaborate with specialist poultry vets for clinical advice, access a wider range of poultry-specific medicines and products and undertake additional training in poultry medicine
This ensures we can provide the best possible care for poultry in our local community. More details can be found on our "Chickens" page.
Above is an overview of the services we offer. This is not an exhaustive list, so if you require something not mentioned here, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
